Directing Work
“Deceptively simple, but effective and precise writing and direction by Michael Kras take the audience on a journey with numerous emotional payoffs and rewards.” - Centre Stage 101.5 (The Year and Two of Us Back Here)
As a director, I love to build theatrical worlds that are rich in detail, deeply specific, and rhythmic & musical, while also leaving enough room for play, inspiration, and spontaneity.
I’ve worked in a directing capacity on text-based projects running the gamut from small indie shows at the Fringe to multi-award-winning international commercial hits, but my core philosophy as a creative leader always remains the same: exciting, playful work cannot happen without creating a generous space that puts collaboration and physical & emotional safety at the forefront.
I specialize in directing productions and workshops of new works, theatre for young audiences, and contemporary plays. My work as a playwright gives me a detailed approach to text based work, and my background as a magician and magic director has equipped me with a unique, startling, and highly theatrical approach to stagecraft.
